Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Business Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive business development plan to achieve and exceed revenue targets, focusing on the full suite of valuation services.
- Pipeline Generation: Proactively identify, source, and qualify new business opportunities through networking, direct outreach, and leveraging your existing professional relationships.
- Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key referral sources, including investment banks, law firms, accounting firms, PE/VC funds, and wealth managers.
- Client Engagement: Lead initial client consultations to understand their valuation needs, articulate our firm’s value proposition, scope engagements, and prepare compelling proposals.
- Market Leadership: Serve as a brand ambassador for the firm by representing us at industry conferences, seminars, and networking events (e.g., ACG, Financial Executives International, industry-specific tech and life science events).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with our technical valuation teams to ensure a seamless transition from sales to execution, providing insights into client expectations and engagement specifics.
- Sales Reporting: Maintain a robust pipeline in the CRM system and provide regular, accurate forecasts and reports on sales activities and achievements to senior leadership.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- 10+ years of proven business development or consultative sales experience within a professional services environment (e.g., valuation, investment banking, management consulting, public accounting, or a corporate law firm).
- A robust and demonstrable network of senior-level contacts (CFOs, VPs of Finance, Controllers, General Counsels, PE/VC Partners) in California.
- A consistent track record of originating new business and exceeding multi-million dollar revenue targets.
- Exceptional executive presence with the ability to confidently engage with senior decision-makers.
Preferred:
- Direct experience selling business valuation services, particularly for IRC 409A, Purchase Price Allocations (ASC 805), and Goodwill Impairment Testing (ASC 350).
- An MBA or professional credential such as CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), or ABV (Accredited in Business Valuation).
- Deep familiarity with the unique needs of companies within the technology, life sciences, and consumer products sectors prevalent in the California market.
